ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott T. Lachance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle crash Sunday night on Interstate 95, extricating a man from the wreckage of the vehicle before he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
On Sunday, June 15, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Attleboro Fire responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 95 south that resulted in a vehicle rolling over onto its side in the woods next to the highway.
Upon arrival, Engine 2, Ladder 1 and Rescue 1 found an unconscious man trapped inside the car, before using extrication tools to remove him from the vehicle. The 69-year-old man was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The unconscious man was then transported by ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, while paramedics performed CPR.
The 69-year-old man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police. As of 8:45 p.m., Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section remained on scene at the site of the crash.
