The Attleboro Fire Department reminds residents that open burn season runs from January 15 through May 1. A permit is required before any open burning may take place.

Once a permit is issued, all rules and regulations will be provided and must be followed at all times.
Seasonal Open Burning Regulations
- Fires must be at least 75 feet from all dwellings
- Burning must not create a nuisance to neighbors
- Open burning may be halted at any time due to dry or windy conditions
- A water source must be immediately available (garden hose or water can)
- Large piles that will not readily burn or cannot be fully extinguished by 4:00 p.m. are prohibited
- Tree trunks and limbs greater than 4 inches in diameter are prohibited
- Illegal or uncontrolled burning may result in fines, liability for suppression costs, or imprisonment (MGL c.48 s.13)
- The Fire Department may revoke a permit at any time for violations or nuisance conditions
- You must be 18 years or older to obtain a permit
