ATTLEBORO — Early Tuesday morning, March 17, the Attleboro Fire Department responded to Thacher Street for a report of a tree that had fallen into a home.
When crews arrived, they found a large tree had fallen into the front of the house, causing significant damage. Three residents and their pets were able to evacuate on their own and were not injured.
National Grid was requested to respond and terminate power to the home. Due to widespread storm damage throughout the region, there was a delayed response.
District Chief Gerry Brogan said, “After heavy rain, when the ground becomes saturated, the risk of trees falling is always a concern. High winds only increase that risk. Fortunately, in this case, there were no additional hazards and no one was hurt.”
Fire crews remained on scene until power to the home was shut off. No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
