ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department is pleased to announce that the Boston Bruins Foundation and Bob’s Discount Furniture have teamed up, donating furniture to support firefighters at the department’s fire stations just in time for International Firefighters’ Day (May 4).
Bob’s Discount Furniture played a key role in making this donation possible by connecting the Attleboro Fire Department the Boston Bruins Foundation. In addition, Bob’s Discount Furniture coordinated and managed the logistics associated with the furniture.
The donated furniture will replace aging seating in the department’s training room, which also serves as the station’s primary day room and central gathering space for firefighters throughout their shift.
This room plays a vital role in daily operations. It is used for training videos, company meetings on policies and procedures, reviewing emergency responses, and providing firefighters with a place to decompress after challenging incidents. It also serves as a space where crews can briefly recharge during long and unpredictable shifts.
Firefighters often transition rapidly from routine activities to life saving emergencies. One moment crews may be reviewing training materials, and the next they may be responding to a person experiencing a cardiac arrest or a structure fire. After these calls, firefighters return to the station to prepare for the next emergency, making the day room an essential space for recovery, readiness, and teamwork.
“These chairs play a lot of roles in the fire service,” said Lt. Corey Blais. “They are where we watch training videos and discuss tactics, hold company meetings, and review EMS calls together. After a difficult incident, this is often the first place we sit down to talk it through as a team. It is also where we take a quick moment to recharge after being at a fire for hours before heading back out to the next emergency. Having new, comfortable furniture to do all of that in truly makes a difference.”
Fire Chief Scott T. LaChance expressed appreciation for the organizations’ support and generosity.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Boston Bruins Foundation and Foundation President Bob Sweeney, for this generous donation,” Chief LaChance said. “Items like this are not always in tight municipal budgets, but they have a real impact on the daily lives of our firefighters. This donation directly supports the health, readiness, and morale of the men and women who serve our community.”
