ATTLEBORO – On Tuesday, October 20, at approximately 1:42 p.m., the Attleboro Fire Department was dispatched to Handy Street in the area of Doral Lane for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a utility pole.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single vehicle that had struck a utility pole, snapping it at the base. The damaged pole and live electrical wires were draped across the roadway.
The vehicle’s sole occupant was able to exit the vehicle independently and was evaluated by Attleboro Fire Department paramedics. The individual was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
National Grid was requested to respond to the scene to secure the electrical hazards and make necessary repairs.
Attleboro Fire Department crews cleared the scene at approximately 2:33 p.m.
The Attleboro Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
