Attleboro Fire Department Responds to Crash Involving Ambulance

ATTLEBORO — At approximately 1:11 p.m., Attleboro Fire Department companies were dispatched to the area of Pleasant Street at Emory Street for a reported motor vehicle collision involving an ambulance.

The incident involved a Brewster Ambulance transporting an 8-year-old female patient from Sturdy Memorial Hospital to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. During the course of transport, the ambulance was struck by another vehicle.

There were no injuries reported to the EMTs or the pediatric patient. As a precaution and to ensure continuity of care, Brewster Ambulance dispatched a second unit to the scene. The patient was safely transferred and continued en route to Hasbro Children’s Hospital without further incident.

The driver of the civilian vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Attleboro Fire Department Rescue personnel to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

The area remained closed to traffic until approximately 1:40 PM while emergency crews operated on scene and police conducted their preliminary investigation.

The Attleboro Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
