City of Attleboro Investigating Cybersecurity Incident; Public Safety Services Operating Normally

ATTLEBORO — The City of Attleboro and the Attleboro Police Department are at this time actively investigating a cybersecurity incident that has taken several of the city’s information technology systems offline. City leaders are working with cybersecurity specialists, the city’s insurer and state and federal partners to identify the cause and begin restoring services.

Public safety services remain fully operational, and residents should continue to call 911 for emergencies.

For non-emergency needs, residents can contact:

  • Attleboro Police Department business line: 508-223-2950
  • Attleboro Fire Department business line: 508-399-8693

All other phone lines to the City of Attleboro and Attleboro Police Department are currently not functioning at this time. Additionally, email service is down citywide, affecting all employees and departments.

Attleboro City Hall remains open during normal business hours, and staff are available to assist residents with day-to-day municipal needs, including paper forms and offline bill and tax payments.

As email and phone systems are currently offline, some City departments may not be able to perform certain tasks until systems are restored. Residents should expect delays and are asked to be patient while staff work through temporary or paper-based procedures.

All public safety phone lines and radio systems are working. Dispatchers have made some manual adjustments, but Attleboro Police and Fire continue to respond to emergency calls without any interruption. Other area police and fire departments can still reach Attleboro dispatch through normal mutual aid channels.

“Our priority is maintaining emergency services and keeping the public informed,” said Mayor Cathleen DeSimone. “We are taking direct steps to manage this incident and will continue regular updates as work continues.”

Attleboro Public Schools are not affected by this incident.

The City will post further updates as soon as new information presents itself.
