ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department responded Thursday morning to an oven fire that caused damage to a kitchen inside a three-family home on Lyle Street.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Attleboro Firefighters responded to 12 Lyle St. for a report of an oven fire.
Crews arrived to find smoke in the second-floor apartment. Firefighters discovered heavy charring to the stove, exhaust hood, and surrounding cabinets, along with smoke damage to the walls and ceiling of the kitchen.
Using thermal imaging cameras, firefighters detected high heat signatures behind the walls in the affected area. Crews opened portions of the wall to check for fire extension, and no additional spread was found. The damage was successfully contained to the kitchen.
The Attleboro Fire Investigation Unit determined the cause of the fire to be accidental from cooking.
Residents of the building were not displaced and were able to safely reoccupy their apartments during repairs.
Firefighters remained on scene for approximately one hour to ventilate the structure and check for hot spots. No injuries were reported.
