ATTLEBORO – This week marks the completion of their intensive five-week in-house training program. Over the past month, these recruits have worked through a curriculum that reflects the high standards of modern fire academies. Their training included advanced Emergency Medical instruction, live fire evolutions, search and rescue operations, ropes and knots, ladders, forcible entry, and scenario-based drills designed to simulate the challenges they will face in the field.
All seven recruits join the department as certified paramedics, bringing valuable experience and a high level of medical proficiency that strengthens our emergency response capabilities from day one.
While this milestone is significant, it is only the beginning. Each recruit now begins a one-year probationary period and will continue to train on shift daily. All seven members join the department as certified paramedics with real-world experience, adding immediate value to our operations and strengthening our ability to serve the community.
Our seven new firefighter paramedics are: Josh Sutherland, Diondre Gomes, Tyler Horsemen, John Gauthier, Mike Cronin, Robert Mershimier, and Nick Caisse.
