ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department quickly extinguished a kitchen fire inside a Pleasant Street restaurant Thursday morning, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring businesses.
On July 30 at approximately 10:53 a.m., the Attleboro Fire Department was dispatched to 183 Pleasant St. for a reported fire.
Upon arrival, crews were met by restaurant employees who reported a fire in the kitchen area. Firefighters quickly located the fire beneath the stoves in the wok cooking area and extinguished it within approximately three minutes of arriving on scene.
“This restaurant is located in a building with two other businesses, and the quick actions of our crews prevented the fire from spreading and potentially forcing those businesses to close for an extended period,” Acting District Chief Steve Brennick said. “Restaurant fires can present unique challenges, including grease, tight working areas, unfamiliar layouts and gas lines. Crews encountered several of those challenges at this incident, but were able to quickly contain the fire and limit the damage to one area.”
Eversource was called to the scene to shut off gas service to the restaurant. The Attleboro Health Department and Building Department also responded to evaluate the property.
The Attleboro Fire Investigation Unit responded to determine the cause of the fire.
The restaurant will remain closed while repairs are completed.
No firefighters, restaurant employees or civilians were injured.
Crews remained on scene until approximately 11:38 a.m.
