ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott LaChance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department knocked down a one-alarm fire Friday morning at an automotive repair shop.
At 3:46 a.m. Friday, a passer-by reported a significant amount of smoke coming from the shop at 375 Washington St. Upon arrival, crews found fire and smoke coming from the shop’s office and waiting area. They immediately began an aggressive interior attack, and the fire was under control within 30 minutes.
Fire damage was mostly limited to the waiting and office areas. Other parts of the building, including the work bays, sustained water and smoke damage.
Utility service was cut to the building, meaning the repair shop won’t be open for business in the immediate future.
Station coverage was provided by the North Attleboro, Norton, and Pawtucket, R.I., Fire Departments
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Attleboro Fire Department’s fire investigation unit.
