The Attleboro Fire Department and Attleboro Water Department responded Tuesday to a water emergency that was caused by a water line break at a local business.
On Tuesday, May 20, at 3:45 p.m., the Attleboro Fire Department was called to Rust-Oleum at 113 Olive St., for a report of a water emergency.
Companies arrived to discover a significant water leak in the courtyard of the Rust-Oleum complex that was caused when a construction crew accidentally struck a large water line.
The Attleboro Water Department was notified immediately, and responded to help stop the flow of water into the broken line, which was difficult since the line was fed by several sources. Approximately 90,000 gallons of water is estimated to have leaked before the flow was stopped. Company representatives were also on scene to ensure there was no hazard to the public caused by the water leak.
Attleboro Fire Department crews stood by at the scene until about 5:20 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
