ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a large brush fire that burned approximately two acres near Haggerty Highway and Willard Road.
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, the Attleboro Fire Department responded to the area of Haggerty Highway and Willard Road for a reported brush fire.
Upon arrival, crews found a large area of brush burning and spreading through the area. Additional resources were requested due to the size of the fire, limited access and challenges with water supply.
Firefighters worked for approximately two hours to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The total area burned is estimated at approximately two acres.
“Brush fires can be challenging because crews are often working in areas with limited access and no immediate water supply,” District Chief Mark Renker said. “These fires can spread quickly, requiring significant manpower and resources to get ahead of them and stop the spread.”
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
